AMD has announced its first high performance system on chip circuit (SoC), codenamed 'Carrizo,' as well as a mainstream SoC code-named 'Carizzo-L' as part of the company's 2015 AMD mobile APU family range.
In a press release, AMD's John Byrne said the company has a "committment to graphics and compute performance", as evidenced by their goal of increasing mobile APU energy efficiency 25 times by 2020.
The company says "These new mobile APUs are designed as complete solutions for gaming, productivity applications and 4K experiences. They support DirectX 12, OpenCL 2.0, AMD’s Mantle APU, AMD FreeSync and the upcoming Windows 10 OS."
AMD has also confirmed that Capcom has joined the company's Mantle API program to enhance the next-gen 'Panta-Rhei' engine, with the aim of improving the performance and visual quality of the Japanese publisher's upcoming games. DICE's Frostbite 3, Crytek's CryEngine, and Oxide's Nitrous engine are already part of the Mantle program.
Deep Down, the free-to-play online PS4 exclusive RPG, is one Capcom game being developed on the Panta-Rhei engine.
