Arguably, the best part of the Resistance games over the years has been their multiplayer modes, which conveniently explains why I was never really that big a fan of the titles. I've played them, but seeing as how their single player campaigns were practically non-existent in terms of story or character development, they were quickly forgotten in my mind.
That said, their multiplayer modes were indeed quite fun, if ridiculously chaotic, and the latest game in the series seems to carry on that trend. The public multiplayer beta of Resistance 3 will be starting up on August 4th, with first access privileges going to those that bought that special SOCOM 4 box that came out some time ago. After August 23rd, Playstation Plus subscribers will be able to jump on as well, but seeing as how the game is set to be released on September 6, you'll only have 2 weeks to play on the thing, which will probably wear most people out anyway.
Insomniac seems to have thought of that in advance, and so the beta will only have two maps and two modes, and while you can level up your characters, the cap will be at level 20, giving players something to do when the full game is released.
Thanks, Dtoid!
