Cyberconnect2 president Hiroshi Matsuyama revealed in a public event that the company will be announcing a 'shocking' new project before the end of 2014.
Matsuyama did not share other details, but observers reported that their PR guy seemed irritated when his superior made this surprise reveal. They say this might be a sign that the announcement could be delayed beyond the date Matsuyama gave, but of course, this is entirely speculation.
Cyberconnect2 is most famous for making the Naruto series of fighting games. While these games are unlikely to please most fighting game fans, the company has managed to keep a core Naruto fanbase satisfied with a combination of fanservice, good production values, and accessible, if shallow, gameplay.
However, Cyberconnect2 has been making games since 1996, the same year as Valve and Gamespot, and with that many years comes an even more extensive library than Naruto fans may have guessed. They originally made their name with the .hack series, and also worked on Silent Bomber, Asura's Wrath, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle.
Most notably, Cyberconnect2 has a pet project, an IP that isn't known for selling particularly well but is a favorite of the company itself. This is the Little Tail Bronx series, which includes Tail Concerto on the PlayStation and Solatorobo on Nintendo DS.
Cyberconnect2 teased development of an original title last August, so this may be the same title. Without any other hints from the company, it is most likely that the project is a new Little Tail Bronx game.
