Maxis has released a new trailer of The Sims 4’s Cow Plant, as you can see above.
The trailer is short and sweet, giving us a peek of the Cow Plant as a small sprout. As you may already know, the Cow Plant has a nasty habit when Sims pay way too much attention to them.
Given the fake scientific name Laganaphyllis Simnovorii, the Cow Plant was originally introduced in The Sims 2: University expansion. It was the career reward for pursuing a career in Natural Science.
Cow Plants need to be fed every twelve hours. If you fail to do so, it may go ahead and eat a Sim. Some players, of course, deliberately use this knowledge to conveniently dispose of unwanted Sims.
After being fed, Cow Plants can be milked. That milks has interesting life extending properties, lengthening the Sim’s life by five days. It’s almost like a bad sci-fi movie premise. To add to that, if you drink the milk after the plant has killed a Sim, the drinker can retain that other Sim’s memories.
Before you ask, Maxis decided that Cow Plants will not eat children and toddlers, aside from stinky Sims. They may swallow these Sims, but then spit them out.
The Cow Plant is hugely popular, even as it breaks the reality simulation aspect of the Sims. The owner it spit out does not seem to be stinky though, so perhaps there are more conditions for it not to eat Sims? Like it may be more discriminating about eating its owners or feeders. Should be interesting to see if they have gone through some changes for the fourth game.
The Sims 4 is coming to Windows on September 2 and an unannounced date on Mac.
