Dogs are man’s best friend, and corgis are the cutest of all the dogs—or so the Internet would have it. With that in mind, Blizzard wants to reward players of World of Warcraft with an in-game pet corgi to celebrate the game’s 10-year anniversary, which falls this coming November.
Blizzard is hosting a number of special events to commemorate the occasion.
The first of several events is described as a “Team Deathmatch-style Battleground” based on the Tarren Mill and Southshore open-world battleground, where players in vanilla World of Warcraft used to do battle on a daily basis. They did so not for glory, or for points, but simply for the sake of it, as the environment and the geography enabled these running battles.
“Unlike the old days of Tarren Mill vs. Southshore, there will be a clearly defined victor, so you’ll need to work as a team or face crushing defeat.”
Additionally, the classic 40-man raid dungeon Molten Core is getting a major revamp.
“Molten Core provided many WoW players with their first taste of WoW raiding. For the anniversary celebration, max-level players will be able to participate in a special 40-player Raid Finder version to relive the experience of hunting down Ragnaros and his minions within his fiery lair. Downing the Firelord will earn you an Achievement and a special Core Hound mount reward (fireproof leg armor not included),” says Blizzard in the official post.
And finally, every player who logs on during the 10-year anniversary event will be able to claim the Molten Corgi.
As with all events in World of Warcraft, the 10-year anniversary is a time-limited event so be sure to check in when you can, or risk losing out on the corgi forever.
