Sega has announced that it will unveil the next installment in the Yakuza series on August 24th and it seems that the game is bound for PS3 and PS4, in Japan at any rate.
The game, set for reveal at 21:00 Japanese time, will not be a spin-off like Yakuza Restoration and is set to feature busy urban environments but beyond that little is known about it at the moment.
Yakuza began life on PS2 in 2005 and since then there has been five major entries as well as Meiji-era Restoration and the zombie themed Dead Souls spin-offs.
Neither Yakuza 5, which was released in 2012, or Restoration which launched in February have been released outside Japan and it does seem unlikely that this next game will buck the trend.
All Yakuza games have been released on PlayStation platforms but Yakuza 1 & 2 HD did make it to Wii U last year.
