Wasteland 2 is expected to be delayed yet again, this time for the purpose of accommodating buyers who purchased the physical edition of the game.
According to its developer InXile, who posted on the game’s Kickstarter page, the game may be getting delayed to the “first or second week of September” due to the fulfillment of the physical goods and discs relating to the game. They haven’t set a specific date as to when the game will ship, but are expected to do so are soon as they themselves know it.
Wasteland 2 was originally scheduled for release on October 2013 but was delayed last July due to the extension of its size and scope with a massive influx of Kickstarter funds. The company managed to raise around $3 million to fund the development of the game, which itself is a sequel to the 1988 classic, Wasteland, which in turn inspired the Fallout series.
The game originally sought to acquire $900,000 from Kickstarter but quickly surged past the million dollar mark as gamers, driven by nostalgia and a desire to play a game very much like the original Fallouts, backed the title. As a result of their success on Kickstarter, the studio was even able to sign on Obsidian Entertainment to collaborate on the project.
The game will be available for the PC, Mac and Linux when it comes out.
