Yager has revealed that fans should dash hopes that there will ever be a sequel to Spec Ops: The Line.
The game is a bona fide cult hit with a dedicated following for sure. However, that following has not been big enough to reflect in large game sales. Sales were so poor that the game was named as one of the reason Take-Two Interactive performed below expectations for FY2013.
It might not be as bad if the game was a mid-tier production, but Yager worked on Spec Ops for five years, so it truly is a monumental failure that dashes hopes for a sequel.
Still, Yager remains proud of the game, and happy to entertain feedback from fans. They are certainly happier now than when they made the game, since they have shifted gears entirely from researching military shooters, to making sci-fiey armada action gameDreadnought. Yager hopes to have Dreadnought out for PC beta in 2015.
