Back in May, The Pokemon Company revealed that roughly 90 million Pokemon had been distributed over the Global Trade Station, the feature in recent Pokemon games that allow players to swap critters online. Once 100 million was reached, a special version of the butterfly Pokemon Vivillon would be distributed for free. That milestone has just been achieved, so players can fire up Pokemon X and Y to obtain their Fancy Pattern Vivillon over the Nintendo Network any time before July 31.
Vivillon is a special Pokemon in that its wings come in a variety of patterns determined by your region. And I don't mean your in-game region, but your physical region on Planet Earth. The Fancy Pattern Vivillon, on the other hand, is available in all regions, although for a limited time only. Even better, it knows a move called Hold Hands that no other Pokemon, not even other Vivillons, can learn.
If Pokemon X and Y don't sate your collection desires, remember that Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are coming to 3DS on November 21.
