This week for Super Smash Bros 4 Miiverse screenshots, we have a little bit of everything. It's been two weeks since E3, but that definitely doesn't mean Team Sora's run out of stuff to reveal.
On Monday, Sakurai had a side-by-side comparison of Rosalina and the fairy from Pac-Land, in the Pac-man stage of course. Sakurai’s comments indicate that there’s always someone larger in Smash, and indeed, the fairy will be dwarfing a lot of the playable roster. Sharp eyes may also notice the magic boots just below the fairy. In Pac-Land, and presumably in Smash, this will allow the wearer to fly.
On Tuesday Sakurai unveiled Link can switch to hisSkyward Sword outfit, although actually, it isn’t a perfect change up. To be honest, I’m kind of unsatisfied with this, and I hope Sakurai can get Link to lose the cap and get the colors right in the final product.
On Wednesday, we got to see what Sakurai calls the return of Balloon Fight, now with four players. It’d not quite clear what he means by return; is this a full minigame, or a part of a stage, or possibly both? Will players get to choose more than Villager if it is a self-contained minigame? It’s also possible, even likely, that this is a 3DS exclusive.
On Thursday, Nabbit makes an appearance, but not as a playable character or a trophy. Instead, he is part of the Mushroom Kingdom U stage, as a hazard who ‘steals’ players. One wonders what conditions need to be met to get caught by Nabbit, and how, if you can, get yourself out. For better or worse, this might rule out a long-rumored Mario character, who is suspected to be Nabbit. One clue: he loves collecting gold coins.
Finally, on Friday, we learned another level of differentiation to the Mii Fighters. Of course, you can make your Miis small or tall, and today, Sakurai revealed that this would determine if your Mii Fighter was a power or speed fighter. He didn’t say it, but I guess we can safely assume average sized Fighters are somewhere in the middle. Outside of the specials, it should be noted that you should be able to tell what characteristics a Mii Fighter has at a glance.
for Super Smash Bros 4 is coming to the 3DS October 7, and to the Wii U this winter.
