Capcom has hosted a brief interview with Ryozo Tsujimoto regarding Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
One of the biggest changes they have made to the game is verticality. So, moving in areas with different terrains and elevations will affect gameplay, especially combat. Of course, this was hinted at in the trailer, but you can use that to your advantage.
The Gore Magala, the flagship monster of Monster Hunter 4, is tied in to the single player story. Of course, other new monsters will be appearing too, but as of now Tsujimoto isn’t allowed to talk about them.
There are two new weapons coming to the game; the Insect Glaive and the Charge Axe. However, the older weapons have received some fine tuning, so they won’t be playing exactly the same. This is in part to adjust to the new verticality possible in the game. All in all, you now have 14 weapons to choose from and play with.
The stages and environments have been souped up, and there will be new areas as well. Verticality, once again, has been added to the mix, appending more strategy to the game overall.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be releasing on Nintendo 3DS in early 2015. You can check out the interview below.
