In a grimdark twist to the original Strider Aragorn, you play Talion, a ranger who guards Mordor’s Black Gate and is killed by orcs. He is later resurrected with wraith like powers, and has the freedom to explore this new powers.
As this trailer reveals, the coming of the Dark Lord Sauron has been foretold, but if another power is awakened, it can be stopped.
Regarding Talion’s own curse, apparently, he needs to destroy the Black Hand. However, he then learns he can use this ‘curse’ to make followers out of anyone, willing or otherwise. Here’s where the grimdark stuff comes in.
Talion is told to find an Orc leader and make him a war chief, so that Talion can acquire a personal orc army. And when he acquires this orc army, his mysterious advisor to tell him what to do next.
It’s Lord of the Rings adapted to more familiar gaming tropes, but the game itself doesn’t look half bad. We even get to see him riding some giant cat mount while fighting.
