Here’s What Bioshock Looks Like in Unreal Engine 4

April 29, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

It’s not Bioshock 4, but we can always keep hope alive for one.

It’s been seven years since the original Bioshock was released, and we’ve come a long way in terms of graphical technology since then. The game, which was jawdropping when it was released, remains one of the better looking older titles today, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Bioshock Infinite, much less games developed on next-gen engines like the Unreal Engine 4.

If you’re wondering what a re-release of the original Bioshock might look like in UE4, one modder going by noodlespagoodle on YouTube has put together a scene from Bioshock in the cutting-edge engine. The modder gathered up some of the original Bioshock assets to see how they’d look like. What’s more, the environment has been recreated in loving detail.

Granted, it doesn’t look that much better than Bioshock Infinite’s Burial at Sea DLC, but it’s certainly a leap forward from the original game. The reflections are a noticeable improvement over anything we've seen in Bioshock Infinite.

Anyway, check it out.
