Titanfall Technical Issues

March 13, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

We track down Titanfall’s technical issues here, as confirmed by Respawn themselves, as well as the other companies / people behind it.

We are tracking down verified technical issues with Titanfall here, presumably mostly for PC. The information on this page will be coming from Respawn or the other people behind Titanfall themselves.

Earlier, we received official word that the game does not support multiple GPUs at this time. They will be serving a patch to fix the concern, but in the meantime, PC users with multiple GPUs and a copy of Bioshock Infinite can use the following workaround:

1.       Add Bioshock Infinite DX11’s SLI bits to Titanfall or add Titanfall's executable file to Bioshock Infinite's profile, using Nvidia Inspector Tool.

2.       Enable ambient occlusion and change it to 'performance' mode. Don't change any other AO settings, otherwise there will be graphical corruptions the moment you enable SLI.

3.       Change SLI settings to AFR2.

Respawn has given a few quick tips on Twitter. If levels take too long to load, try lowering the texture quality. If Geo is missing, turn off MSAA in your individual drivers, and in Titanfall’s menu. They are making a patch to resolve these issues as well. Clearly, the 1st patch will be a considerable one.

This interview with Respawn provides even more insight. The interviewer pointed out that after the game’s stable performance in beta, they noticed conspicuous frame rate drops for the more intense action scenes. Respawn confirmed that during these scenes, they attempted to incorporate complex physical calculations, such as particle rendering on multiple processor cores. Unfortunately, this is what led to said framerate drops. As always, Titanfall promises to fix said issues in the near future, alongside adding more game features.
