Note: Minor spoilers ahead.
There is a pretty big fan base for the Paper Mario franchise and recently the series received a new installment. Paper Mario: The Origami King is one of the latest first-party title releases for the Nintendo Switch which sees players taking the role of Paper Mario once again. In this title, players have a brand new foe to face again in hopes of restoring order. Unfortunately, for fans that have been embarking on the campaign journey, it looks like there is at least one area of the game that could completely break your save state.
In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Paper Mario is having to face against King Olly. After an attack has left the kingdom in ruins from King Olly folding the area to bits and stealing Princess Peach, Mario is out to save the day once again. However, Mario won’t be by himself as he will have help from King Olly’s sister, Olivia. Even our nemesis Bowser has a bone to pick with King Olly and decides to join the fight.
As players progress through the game and complete the series of battles and puzzles, there is one section of the game that is important not to mess upon. When you have the VIP pass you’ll be able to gain access to the fifth spring from the Shangri-Spa. Toad will take the VIP card, but if you don’t proceed forward and instead leave the area, you won’t gain access to the area again.
All players need to do is progress forward into the newly unlocked area. However, there has been plenty of players that opted to leave only to be locked away from progressing the campaign. As a result, Nintendo has taken note of the game-breaking bug and is currently working on a fix. We’re not sure just when the update will come for the game, but this will likely be a bummer for players who were hoping to finish the game out only to either restart completely or wait for an update to come out from Nintendo.
