Pokemon X and Y Pre-Orders Top 1.26 Million in Japan

October 2, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Titles are most pre-ordered games for 3DS to date.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, set to be released on October 12th exclusively for 3DS, have become the most pre-ordered games in the handheld's history in Japan with 1.26 million copies reserved.

These numbers exclude digital versions of the games.

The last games in the series; Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, were pre-ordered 1.16 million times while Pokemon Black and White were reserved 1.08 million times. All of those games were DS titles.

As Famitsu notes; Pokemon X and Y will be the first titles in the franchise to be released simultaneously worldwide.

Also revealed is a second mega evolution for Charizard. The new mega evolution will be a Fire/Dragon-type Pokémon with the new ability of Tough Claws which improves the power of Physical attacks. Its Attack stat is also increased.
