Trials Rising brings the classic physics-based motocross platformer to an always-online Ubisoft world. For long-time fans, there’s one feature that’s incredibly annoying — the ghosts. For every race, you’ll be matched with three random players and compete against their times.
It isn’t just the times you’re trying to beat, but you’ll actually see their ‘ghost’ in the background. This might be great for players that want help looking for the best route, but it’s an unnecessary addition for those of us that want to figure out each stage for ourselves.
Right now, there is no straightforward method to disable ghosts. Even if you play offline, you’ll STILL have to watch ghosts clutter up your view of the track. Here’s the best possible solution I’ve found so far.
How To Disable Ghosts & Play Offline | Classic Gameplay Guide
To get rid of those annoying ghosts, you’ll need to take two steps — disabling network features, and making the ghosts “invisible”. You’ll still compete against ghosts, but instead of racing against random player times, you’ll race against three computer-generated personifications of each medal (bronze, silver, and gold) — really, this is a much better way to play. These CPU racers have the exact correct medal times.
Disabling the “ghosts” will still make them appear. You’ll only see them on the start-up / completion screen, and you’ll be able to track their progress in the track progress bar in the top-right corner of the HUD. If you’re moving faster than the gold marker, you’ll earn a gold medal. It’s as easy as that.
- After launching Trials Rising, tab out and disable your network features. This will not close the Trials Rising app.
- This is different on PC / PS4 / Xbox One, but essentially works the same.
- On PS4, go to Settings -> Network -> Uncheck “Connect to the Internet”
- In Trials Rising, go to Game Options and scroll down to “Ghost Settings”.
- Set “Ghosts Opacity” to 0.
You’ll still see Ghosts when you play, but as stated above, they’re limited to CPUs. You’re basically racing against the timers set for Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals. The ghosts will be invisible, but you can still track their progress in the upper-right corner of the HUD, on the track progress menu. I personally find that a lot handier than literally watching goofballs botch races and drawing attention from the real star of these games — the wonderfully dense, ridiculous tracks you’ll have to platform through.
Here’s hoping there’s a more permanent fix in the near future. Right now, this is the best solution.
