Red Dead Redemption was a massive hit when it launched in 2010 and now nearly a decade later we’re finally getting a new installment. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the next installment that takes place prior to the events of Red Dead Redemption. We expect the game to sell quite well and that could be an indicator for another installment afterward, but there are other aspects that Rockstar Games will need to consider before a Red Dead Redemption 3 could happen.
We’re not even into the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 and already there are talks of a third installment. Of course, with any big exciting release, some fans are curious as to if we can expect developers to continue on with the world or a franchise longevity. Recently, Dan Houser from Rockstar Games spoke with Vulture. During their talks, it was revealed that the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 video game will take players sixty hours to complete along with noting that developers had to work a hundred hours a week during crunch time.
With so much content for gamers to go through and developers putting plenty of work into the game, it was brought up that if this title does well, would Rockstar Games continue on with another installment. Dan stated that even if Red Dead Redemption 2 does well, Red Dead Redemption 3 will need another story and if the developers could create a narrative interesting enough then its possible.
For now, it looks like the main focus is launching Red Dead Redemption 2 and likely afterward the support for the online component. Currently, Red Dead Redemption 2 is slated to launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, this October 26, 2018.
