Pixelbionic has announced the cancellation of its MotorGun Kickstarter after mere days of being launched. The project involved the creators of Interstate '76 and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe. The creators cited difficulty in drawing financial support for the title despite being staffed with some very able crewmembers.
In the MotorGun campaign’s final update, developers Michael Kaufman and Mike Arkin wrote, “Kickstarter is a harsh mistress. Lots of projects are pitched to the community and sometimes they resonate and sometimes they don’t. In this case, what we were pitching wasn’t exactly what you guys wanted.”
However, it does not appear to be the end of the line for MotorGun, as the developers intend to re-tool it for a Kickstarter again in the future with a better, more attractive pitch next time.
“In the next few weeks we’ll be reformulating our design and Kickstarter plan and we encourage all of you to head over to our website at www.pixelbionic.com and sign up for the forums. Tell us what you liked and what you didn’t and you can help shape the next phase of this wild adventure.”
We look forward to see what they have to offer.
