Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Only Feature Single Playable Character

September 7, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

Red Dead Redemption 2 will not feature multiple protagonist like Grand Theft Auto V.

When Grand Theft Auto V released, it became a worldwide phenomenon. Gamers everywhere couldn’t wait to get their hands on a copy and despite being launched initially in 2013, the game is still doing well in today’s market. This is highly due to the fact that the game is supported through its online component, Grand Theft Auto Online, where gamers can play through missions, races among other activities together.

Another interesting aspect that is unique to Grand Theft Auto V in comparison to the other previous installments is that players had three different characters to go through the game as. During points of the game, players could freely switch to a character and progress through certain campaign missions. This was a beloved feature as the three characters offered a means to flesh out a story for gamers to unfold, but it looks like this won’t be a trend that follows to Red Dead Redemption 2.

As it turns out through an interview between The Hollywood Reporter and art directors for both Rockstar San Diego and Rockstar North, gamers will only have Arthur Morgan to play as. Due to the narrative journey Rockstar Games has crafted up, Red Dead Redemption 2 will only have Arthur as the playable character, but you can still expect help from your fellow gang members.

Within the game, Arthur Morgan is on the run with the Van der Linde gang after a robbery. The government is looking to put an end to the Wild West stigma by taking out every gang possible. This has led Arthur and his fellow compadres to flee across the country.

Currently, Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch on October 26, 2018, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
