Rocket League Lootbox Drop Rates Revealed

July 24, 2018 by Jordan Coetsee

Smart move Psyonix.

For the past few years, lootboxes have been a topic of mass contention – many gamers have seen it as an unethical way to segment the full game into paid microtransactions, others have seen it as an unfair way to gain an advantage over others by paying to special items or heroes. Either way, many countries haven’t been happy with this new monetization mechanic – a most recent example being the Netherlands and Belguim.

Gamers in the Netherlands and Belgium are currently unable to open lootboxes in CS:GO following a recent update. This comes as a follow up to Steam disabling the Marketplace in the Netherlands – while the marketplace has been re-enabled, Lootbox opening has been disabled.

Psyonix, have decided to opt for loot boxes transparency, publicly announcing what the drop rate is for cosmetic crates in Rocket League so that players can make informed decisions with regards to the purchases they make.

  • Rare Item: 55%
  • Very Rare Item: 28%
  • Import Item: 12%
  • Exotic Item: 4%
  • Black Market Item: 1%
  • Chance of receiving Painted attribute: 25%
  • Chance of receiving Certified attribute: 25%

So there you have it, gamers will now know the odds of getting rare and exotic items when purchasing a lootbox.

Rocket League is out now for Switch, PS4, PC and Xbox One.
