PUBG Corp. Withdraw Battle Royale Lawsuit Against Fortnite

June 28, 2018 by Jordan Coetsee

No reason has been given for the withdraw.

Since the launch of Fortnite: Battle Royale, PUBG Corp – the team behind the massively popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds haven’t been too happy with the similarities between the two titles. A little over a month ago the company went full force against Epic Games, launching a lawsuit against the gaming company.

Now Bloomberg has reported that the lawsuit has been withdrawn, the reason for the withdrawal we don’t know.

What’s pretty important to note is the role of Tencent in this lawsuit. The Chinese publisher owns a 10 percent stake in Bluehole (which PUBG Corp is a part of) and a 40 percent stake in Epic Games. That and both the games utilize Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4. Could Tencent have played a role in diffusing situation?

Thoughts? Let us know down in the comments below.

In other Fortnite news, Epic Games are looking to switch up the title’s endgame. Read more about this, here.

Some gamers love the last few minutes of a Fortnite Battle, while others despise it. When I first started playing Fortnite, nobody really knew how to correctly use the building mechanic, so fights were mostly limited to high hills and tactical firefights behind cover.
