During Microsoft's Xbox One presentation, EA took the stage to make a few announcements regarding their sports franchises.
Showing footage from their upcoming FIFA 14, it was said that FIFA 14 would have exclusive features on the Xbox One. Considering that each Xbox One console is coming with their new Kinect, I think it's safe to assume that many of those exclusive features will utilize the accessory.
FIFA 14 is using EA Sports' new "Ignite" engine, said to emulate the highest level of athlete instincts, human intelligence, and true player emotion. They boast lifelike animation and dynamic player environments. The engine is able to make four times more calculations per second than their previous engine, with a greater field of vision and the ability to make "smart decisions" with awareness, anticipation, and context, creating an AI that imitates humanlike intelligence better than ever before.
Player and team statistics were said to be updated constantly, giving you an even more immersive experience. Kevin Ware suffered a terrible injury last month in a basketball game, and would probably be updated to be taken out of commission from his Louisville team. If EA Sports keeps their games and rosters as up-to-date as they claim, this could create a greater connection between playing sports games and watching sports. Nobody wants their favorite player to be locked out of their game because they were injured in real life, but the idea that the scenario is possible is interesting.
