New screenshots were released today that give viewers a better idea of what they’ll see when playing the upcoming sequel to Final Fantasy 13. The game, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 will at some point take place in the area known as the “Dead Dunes”. That’s what’s being shown off today in these photos! Look at them!
This landscape, we’ve been informed, is the “Dead Dunes”, a new area that was previously unseen in any other Final Fantasy game. It’s got sand and palm trees and water. There’s buildings too. It’s got all you’ll need.
Lighting, here, is holding something in her hand that she believes to be the stolen treasure. Is it? Most likely, but we can’t be sure. We’ll keep you updated as new information comes to light.
A monster that looks like the Hungarian Christmas demon of The Krampus is jumping toward the titular lightning. She’s got a shield. It’s going to be alright. She’s got this covered. She doesn’t even celebrate Christmas, she’s from the floating city of Pulse. They don’t have that there.
The three characters have put on an impromptu light show. They’ll presumably be touring with Purity Ring and doing the summer festival circuit. One of the more demonic creatures looks like it is aiding the more human seeming one. Is this a sign of a possible battle system?
Here we see lighting skidding down a hill. Presumably she needs to travel from one area to another and she needs to do it with an increased pace that facilitates the excuse to slide from an area of high elevation to somewhere closer to sea level.
The picture includes some motion blur, suggesting that this increased pace is potentially faster than the human eye can process. Does the former L’Cie now have access to the superhuman powers of Marvel Comics’ The Flash™? No. She doesn’t.
