It's been about four days since Ubisoft's revelation, that not only is Rayman Legends no longer a Wii U exclusive, but it's also being delayed to coincide with the release of the upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Despite the game being practically done; the Wii U iteration was originally schedule for release in just two weeks from now.
Well, going by the comments still being left at Ubisoft's Facebook page, it's clear that many are still vehemently angry. At least Ubisoft has been forthright when explaining the cause of the delay.
According to Digital Spy, the delay is purely due to how they handle multiplatform releases, and not any sort of development issues, which some suspected was a primary cause for the delay to being with:
"There are no issues with the game development. All of the information was in the press release, the only reason for the delay is to release on multiple platforms."
As for why the Wii U version doesn't just come out as scheduled:
"We usually release all of our platforms simultaneously (aside from PC). We've made special exception sometimes in the past but it's definitely just on a case by case basis and not our standard practice.
In this case, Ubisoft recently decided they wanted to release the game on multiple platforms so the decision was made to launch them all at the same time rather than separately.
I know it's not an elaborate, 'convincing' answer, but it's the simple truth."
Yet many are still incensed, which has led to Ubisoft to do what can be best described as damage control. The most recent post on their Facebook wall has the following:
"Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms. We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game.
We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more."
Now, whether this actually effective damage control is entirely debatable. Given Wii U owners first dibs might mean something, in light of recent events, if not for the fact that there already exists a demo for the game.
