If you're anything like me, the word documentary doesn't exactly excite you. But what if it was one about one of your favorite video game series? Especially if that video game series had created a lot of controversy? Suddenly, the word documentary seems to have a lot of potential.
That's exactly what the filmmakers at Nuhfer Media are banking on. The group has started a Kickstarter campaign to make a documentary on Mass Effect's creation and rise to fame – and controversy.
They've released a brief one minute video detailing what they'd like to cover and a timeline for the video.
The proposed documentary will highlight the history and development of the Mass Effect video games as well as address some of the controversies surrounding the franchise. Our goal is to interview key individuals connected with the series, including writers, programmers, producers, voice actors and fans. From now until March 1st, the project will be seeking funding through Kickstarter said Nuhfer Media in a press release.
They want at least $5,000 to cover travel expenses, sponsor incentives, equipment costs and of course pay for the crew, but they actually hope to raise $20,000. If they succeed in their goal, we could see a documentary by November 7, 2013. You can visit the Kickstarter here to become a sponsor or to just learn more about the documentary. As of the time of this writing, no one has pledged, so it will be interesting to see if this documentary can pan out.
