Cuphead: How To Defeat Threatenin’ Zeppelin | Boss Guide

September 29, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Threatenin’ Zeppelin boss battle breakdown.

Cuphead, developed by StudioMDHR Entertainment, is a run and gun platform indie title. Overall, the narrative follows Cuphead and his brother Mugman, as they end up making a terrible bet against the devil. Losing the bet, Cuphead and Mugman are forced to give their souls to the devil, but it seems that our protagonist duo can save themselves if they go out and collect debts.

The devil has a number of souls that are owed to him by other sorrowful cartoon characters. If Cuphead and Mugman can go out and collect all the souls then the devil may just allow them to keep their own souls in return. However, debt collecting is easier said than done, both Cuphead and Mugman will have a difficult road ahead of themselves.

Most of the game is based around boss battles and each can be rather difficult to go through. However, if you need a hand then look no further, we’re here to offer a guide on how to defeat each boss in the video game.

You will want to take notice that the game will force players to go through boss battles in regular mode in order to claim the souls. If you’re having a difficult time defeating a boss then go through the simple mode a few times to get the hang of things before attempting the regular session which will up the difficulty.

Without further ado, check out the boss guide down below along with our other boss guides for Cuphead.

Threatenin’ Zeppelin Boss Guide

In this battle players take on a plane form and battle a female plane and her smaller plane minions. As a plane, you’ll have the ability to shrink and dodge bullets a bit easier and as a special, you’ll transform into a bomb and deliver a devastating attack against your enemies.

Female Plane Antagonist
Her first attack will be laughs. You will have to avoid the words haha when flying while filling her up with lead. Likewise, throughout the attack, her minions will fly in and fire a few shots, a few of which will be pink to parry.
At some point she will puff up and blow out air launching herself towards you. When she puffs up, fly down or up and wait until she returns to her side of the map. It’s at this point she will transform into a cloud bull.

Cloud bull
The cloud bull will have an attack in which it will stretch out its neck and attempt to hit.  Avoid being right in front of the bull for too long. Instead, fly upwards or downwards often until you sunk enough shots to cause the female antagonist to return back towards her normal shape.

Female Plane Antagonist
She will now have a new attack which is throwing tornadoes your way. Though she will once again transform so be cautious and look for when she puffs back up as an indication to fly up or down to avoid being hit.

Cloud Females
After puffing up she will become two cloud females with the ability to launch a gun weapon that will hover and fire a full 360 degree, though after one full rotation it will disappear.

Archer
The archer form will shoot out star bullets that will follow you around. You’ll want to dive below and get behind the stars to destroy them.

UFO
The UFO form will send out a number of UFO’s above you that will fire downwards. You’ll need to time out your movements between the beam attacks all the while firing at the main antagonist.
