Ubisoft has announced today its plans to release a DLC called High Tides for Far Cry 3, which comes out in January. Like the Benedict Arnold missions for Assassin's Creed 3, the DLC is exclusive to the PS3—at least until further notice.
The DLC is designed for the game's co-op mode and adds two new chapters: Jailbreak and Redemption, which are set after the events of the original six chapters available within the game.
"These new chapters feature the culmination of all the hard work we’ve put into the main co-op campaign. They’re truly the best of the best," says Meghan Watt, a writer at Massive Entertainment, which developed the multiplayer co-op campaign for Far Cry 3. The co-op mode is very much like a full fledged game that comes bundled together with Far Cry 3.
"High Tides will take place where the original six co-op chapters left off. These are the gang’s final moments, and we’re really challenging ourselves to go all-out. We’ve got new missions, tougher fights, bigger competitions, some great up-close time with your favorite characters, and explosive moments unlike anything you’ve seen before."
I personally hope that the two missions will see release on other platforms, because the co-op campaign is most certainly a blast to play through.
Far Cry 3 is available today on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
