Halo 4 will play host to a new race of enemies known as the Prometheans. The series’ hero Master Chief will have to face down these warrior-guardians of the Forerunners as he makes his way through the Forerunner planet of Requiem—an entirely new setting for the Halo franchise and one unlike anything we’ve ever before seen.
The Prometheans are neither machines nor monsters, and feature unique architecture and technology to set them apart from previous aggressors in the series like the Covenant. The Prometheans are defined by their ability to sort of shapeshift and assemble from individual parts which are bound together by an invisible force, and likewise, the weapons they wield share similar traits to their progenitors.
Some of these weapons have been showcased in the more recent videos of Halo 4, which revealed that Master Chief will be able to salvage them from fallen enemies and use them against his opponents. These deadly contraptions feature the same self-assembling properties as the Prometheans, some of which have been captured in the following GIFs below, just so you can see how awesome they look. There are several more to come.
In development at 343 Industries, Halo 4 is set for a November 6 release worldwide and is exclusive to the Xbox 360.
