Microsft has reclaimed a pair of sites pertaining to "Xbox 8." Could this be the name of the next-gen Xbox?
In a report by Fusible, it states that Microsoft Corp. has won two disputes filed in May with the National Arbitration Forum over a pair of Xbox-related owned by a resident of China.
The Xbox 8 disputed sites include Xbox8.us and Xbox8.org. Aside from this, Microsoft has also claimed XboxPhone.com, XboxTablet.com, XboxLiveTV.com, and XboxCompanion.com.
While logical assumption is that this "Xbox 8" filing could be somehow related to Microsoft's upcoming launch of Windows 8, and Windows Phone 8 later this year, how can the publisher tie this in with the Xbox gaming brand?
Of course, there's also the theory that this could be the name of Microsoft's next generation Xbox. Instead of calling it Xbox 720, why not call it Xbox 8 so it looks twice as powerful as a PS4? Yeah, marketing types think that way.
What do you think this claims mean? Is Microsoft just securing it against cyber-squatters or is there more to it than what we know now?
