Unlike the latest Resistance title, Killzone 3 actually managed to sell well. Certainly, the game sold well enough to mandate the development of a further sequel, which is set for release on the PlayStation Vita.
According to a source within Sony Computer Entertainment who spoke to Siliconera, the game will be a direct sequel to Killzone 3 taking place after the events of the last game. The following story details were provided:
My sons and my daughters, today we take the first step toward our imperial future.
For years, this once-great nation has stagnated in the shadow of its enemies. Governed by scoundrels who flaunted the ideals established by my father, these traitors… these enemies of our race have diluted and exploited the triad of Duty, Obedience, and Loyalty.
This regime, this corrupt regime, has been dissolved. In its place does rise an era of stability and strength. A time of opportunity born from a promise that we shall return our people to their proper sphere of dominance.
The source even provided Siliconera with a screenshot of the Vita-bound Killzone title.
We'll no doubt hear more about the game at the upcoming E3 next month.
