Microsoft has already promised that there won’t be any RRODs on the new Xbox 360 Slim, announced at E3 2010, but an interesting tidbit of info has come to our attention. When the system overheats, instead of the dreaded “RROD” a message will appear on the screen.
The Xbox 360 is shutting down to protect the console from insufficient ventilation. You can turn the console back on after the power light stops flashing.
As documented in the past, it seems like the internal architecture of the Xbox 360 is just prone to overheating, so in order to prevent that from happening, the new “Xbox 360 Slim” will just make you wait for a few minutes until the power light stops flashing. We understand the fact that this could serve as a hindrance during your “epic gameplay moment,” but if you ask us, it’s better to give your Xbox 360 a 5-10 minutes break instead of waiting a month for a replacement or fix.
