EA has officially confirmed that there is no built in chat for Star Wars Battlefront on PC.

EA gave no explanation for the decision, but one can only imagine the publisher was especially sensitive of how they handled this game, as not only is it the first new Star Wars game, but this was licensed for the first time with Star Wars’ new owner, Disney. Video game chat is notorious for its toxicity, and EA may have opted not to deal with moderation.
As this reddit reveals, fans are actively divided on this omission. While many declare this as proof that EA is shortchanging fans, and declaring they won’t be buying it anymore, other fans point out that few people actively used it on Battlefield 4. Some players did use it in Commander Mode, but even the fans believe it isn’t worth the effort for the publisher.
This does follow fan discontent with other decisions made as well, such as Battlefront having no space battles, and removing split screen.
