Production on Steven Spielberg's Halo TV show is still happening at Showtime, IGN reports.
Spielberg himself first announced the show back in 2013 and reports that it would make its way to Showtime first surfaced in May 2014. Microsoft originally planned to launch the series alongside the release of Halo 5: Guardians this autumn but the show will now miss that window.
Showtime president David Nevins told IGN's reporter during a Television Critics Association press tour, "It's still in development. Still in very active development."
Despite that, Halo fans shouldn't expect to hear news on the show in the immediate future. Nevins said details would be forthcoming "No time soon."
Spielberg announced that show during the Xbox One reveal event two years ago, when he commented: "The Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and mythmaking meet to produce something really groundbreaking."
This was back when Microsoft had high ambitions for TV and other entertainment on the Xbox One and while those plans have since been derailed and Xbox Entertainment Studios have closed its doors, it seems some of that original plan has survived even if we can't see it for some time.
