The Australian version of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix is set to come with a few alterations from its original format. After the American ESRB rated the game for “Fantasy Violence, Mild Blood, and Use of Alcohol,” other countries followed suit.
The KHInsider fansite suggests that this version of the game keeps the edits that were in the Kingdom Hearts 2 released Stateside, which differs from the Japanese version of the game in that there’s no green Hydra Blood, pirates can’t be set on fire, and Axel’s death scene has been edited, to name a few of the changes that were in the original censored version of the game.
You can read the Australian classification board's entry for the game here.
At this point, it’s unknown whether the US version will be equally censored as the Australian version of the game, but it’s likely that they are the same version—which differs from the uncensored Japanese version of the game.
This is going to be disheartening to fans who were expecting a pristine experience of the game, based on its original Japanese release. It’s hard to say whether the Remix will contain all the censorship edits from the original Kingdom Hearts 2 or just a few partial edits.
Kingdom hearts HD 2.5 Remix is set for release on December 2, 2014.
