During E3 2014, it was announced that Bayonetta 2 would feature two-player online co-op in Tag Climax mode. Obviously that means one player would be Bayonetta herself while the other would be her red-clad rival Jeanne, right? Those are the only two characters we've seen fighting side-by-side in gameplay footage thus far. But a blurb on the official Bayonetta 2 website may point to a larger cast of playable characters.
In the description for Tag Climax, the site reads:
Choose your character and join forces with a friend online to wreak havoc on angels and demons alike.
That alone doesn't say much. It could simply mean that each player can choose to be either Bayonetta or Jeanne. However, game site Playeressence was looking through the European Bayonetta 2 page and found this line instead:
Choose from a range of powerful characters, and give angels and demons a beating that’s as brutal as it is beautiful.
"A range"? That sounds like more than two characters to me! This is all speculation until official confirmation is made, but the likelihood of an expanded roster seems pretty high.
Bayonetta 2 arrives on Wii U in October and includes a free copy of the original Bayonetta as well.
