SNES Classic Edition: Here’s How To Unlock Star Fox 2

August 23, 2017 by Kevin Thielenhaus

If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a SNES Classic, Star Fox 2 isn’t unlocked naturally. Here’s how to play it.

Star Fox 2 is a huge selling point for the SNES Classic Edition. The tiny consoles are selling out everywhere, and getting your hands on one might seem impossible — even worse, the only “new” game on the system isn’t even on the opening list when you start your SNES Classic Edition up. That’s right, this game has to be unlocked. Don’t worry it isn’t hard or anything.

The SNES Classic Edition comes included with 21 games from the Super Nintendo, the classic console with Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Super Castlevania IV, Final Fantasy III, and tons of other incredible games — many of which are on this tiny version of the console. The SNES Classic is designed to work with modern televisions, using an HDMI cable for true widescreen, and comes packed in with two controllers. Pretty awesome, right? We’ll go over the full list of games below, but first, let’s explain how to unlock the most important game on the list — Star Fox 2.

How To Unlock Star Fox 2

Star Fox 2 doesn’t appear on the game list when you first start up the SNES Classic. You’ll need to unlock it first. To unlock Star Fox 2, you must play Star Fox 1.

  • To Unlock Star Fox 2 — Complete the first level of Star Fox 1.

That’s all it takes! Easy and quick. When Star Fox 2 unlocks, you can play the mysterious, never-before officially released sequel to Star Fox. The game has been floating around online for a long time, but rumors suggest this version is actually bug-tested and slightly improved over the version you (and anyone else) can find online.
