Warner Bros. has released a new trailer showing off the GamePad functionality for Batman Arkham City's Armored Edition for the Wii U. While most of the footage shown is from the game's E3 debut, it does give us a more in-depth look at how the GamePad works with one of 2011's best action games.
The GamePad itself can be used as a real-time map, as an inventory screen and even as a way to interact with the Batman's gadgets. The question here is, does it make the game better or is it there simply for the sake of being there?
Aside from the new integration of the gadgets, Batman Arkham City Armored Edition is also introducing a new B.A.T. mode for Batman. To put it in simplified terms, once you're in combat, Batman "charges" his suit and once fully charged, he emits electricity and his attacks do more damage…as if Batman wasn't bad-ass enough, no?
While I like the added touch controls when it comes to the explosive gel and controllable batarang, moving the inventory screen on the GamePad doesn't look as intuitive as I'd hope. Yes, you can use touch controls to drag and drop them in their slots, but wouldn't it be easier to just use the dpad to choose the items immediately?
Are you liking the added GamePad functionality they've implemented so far? If so, will it be enough to make you play the game again when it launches later this year?
