Medal of Honor Warfighter’s Driving Missions Co-Created by Need for Speed Devs, Will Be on Two Discs on the Xbox 360

October 4, 2012 by Alex Co

Medal of Honor Warfighter will have a little Need for Speed in it! Read on for details on that and how the Xbox 360 version will ship on two discs.

While the first Medal of Honor reboot was a collaboration by Danger Close and DICE (Battlefield 3), this year's version will solely be developed in-house at Danger Close…or is it?

Ben Jones, senior designer at Danger Close, has revealed that the studio is working alongside the developers behind the Need for Speed franchise to create the game's first-person car chase mission.

While the section was still developed in-house at Danger Close, Jones admits that the Need for Speed devs worked alongside them to create "the black box of the level, how we wanted the pacing and where it was going to go."

"From there, they worked really hard on the driving mechanics and making sure that the movement of the world was really polished. So yeah, we worked hand-in-hand with them to get it done," Jones adds.

However, Jones wouldn't reveal which Need for Speed dev team helped them out; and only added that ex-developers from Criterion and Black Box had contributed to the game.

This first-person driving mission will be called "Hot Pursuit," and will see a Tier 1 Operator chasing a suspected terrorist through the city of Karachi, Pakistan.

In addition to that, Jones also confirmed that the Xbox 360 version of the game will ship in two discs, one each for the multiplayer and single-player portions of the game. Xbox 360 FPS fans might remember that this was the case last year too with DICE's Battlefield 3.

The similarities to the two games doesn't end there, as an optional HD texture install could also come to Warfighter — again, similar to Battlefield 3.

"I believe we are [including an optional HD texture installation], but I don't know that we can confirm that," Jones states; but an EA publicist reiterates that they can't confirm this just yet since it hasn't been confirmed to them at the time.

Will the game shipping on two discs for the Xbox 360 affect which version you're going to purchase? If you want to try the game's multiplayer before you buy, don't forget that the Medal of Honor Warfighter beta will start tomorrow exclusively for the Xbox 360.
