Resident Evil 6 was Sony's first attempt at letting gamers download new games from the PSN on the actual release date. However, it was one that was marred by a game breaking bug. Some users have reported an error code of 80029513 appearing upon start-up that prevented players from actually playing the game.
Other players had issues when playing with disc owners and accessing ResidentEvil.net. Capcom-Unity says the game is fixed and safe for playing and downloading digitally, but…in order to get the fix, you need to re-download all 10GB from the PlayStation store again.
Resident Evil 6 released to mixed reviews after many months of negative hype on October 2nd. No doubt this bug also soured some people's playthroughs as well, especially as some people are affected by any bandwidth limits placed on their broadband connection. But hopefully Sony will be able to learn from this experience and help to prevent bugs like this from happening again in their future Day 1 digital downloads.
