Minecraft and Mojang Studios are definitely getting some clout lately. From being nominated to one of the best looking offices in Sweden to having their very own documentary, no one can say they haven't grown. The documentary will be appropriately called Minecraft: The Story of Mojang and will be released in early December. The movie follows Mojang Studio creator Markus "Notch" Persson the year after his meteoric rise to fame with Minecraft.
According to Eurogamer, the video examines the "examines the ins and outs of building a company as well as captures the Minecraft zeitgeist by interviewing dedicated fans, young children who are taught Minecraft in school, and notable industry figures like Tim Schafer, Peter Molyneux, Chris Hecker, and Penny Arcade's Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins." Lionhead Studio's outspoken developer Peter Molyneux states in the video that Minecraft is "far better than a god game or any game I've done. For sure… It's a fact!"
The documentary was born— like many things in the gaming industry recently—out of Kickstarter. You can view the concept video for the movie here:
The studio is aiming to release the 97 minute movie around December 7th.
