Google isn't shy when it comes to making nifty neato things. They have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out on the market right now, Google Glass coming on the way, and now this little gadget called a "smart watch". According to Gizmodo the paten was filed by James Brooks Miller and Richard Carl Gossweiler III on behalf of Google last October. Now, a year later the patent has been approved and I am anxiously waiting to see what this thing will bring to the market.
As you can see in the picture the watch will be able to interact with it's environment, possibly giving you daily deals on items or health facts about items. GPS will also be a function of the watch, which will also have full app usage along with giving you notifications coming from your smartphone.
The watch may sound a lot like Google Glass right now, and I guess it does. However I would imagine developing for Google Glass and this new smartwatch are quite different, and Google may still have some tricks up it's sleeves. I would like to see the ability to change date and time automatically as well as wireless charging for the device. Some NFC functionality wouldn't hurt either.
So what do you all think? Will this be a flop like previous attempts at smartwatches or will Google come through with a quality device that consumers will flock to like the iPhone?
