The PlayStation Vita isn't the most successful handheld console, but a price cut like Nintendo's 3DS could help it.
In an interview with Sony UK boss Fergal Gara, Eurogamer asked what Sony's thinking on a price cut for the PS Vita was. Gara responded in a way typical of a businessman, but it can be gathered that it's on the table.
"We always aim to establish price cuts. So the question is not so much if, but when. We won't have an across the board price down this Christmas. But what you will see us doing is work very hard with our retail partners to add value to the product to make it more compelling."
Eurogamer then asked more directly if a price cut would have to wait until next year to which Gara simply answered yes. When pressed on the timing, Gara said that it was "still under discussion."
This comes after Sony said it was too early for a PS Vita price cut. Sony has recently said that they intend to support the Vita for 10 years, despite it's lackluster sales compared to the PSP. It'll be interesting to see if it can hold on even half as long.
