Most of you have undoubtedly heard of Gangnam Style by now and even seen it implemented and permeating through…oh, just about everything. You might even know the dance. But you probably can't dance as well as these guys.
If you like the song and the game, you have to watch it. If you're a technical sort, take a look at the details of how this was achieved below. If not…just enjoy the video.
The video's only been up three days and has over one million views. As it should be.
GamesBeat asked modder abexomotron1 about the technical details behind this video. If you know anything about modding or animation, you might be impressed with how much work this took.
“I took the Gangnam dance-motion data, created with the Miku Miku Dance software by YouTube user MotionMaker Diva. I then converted that file to work with the Havok Content Tools Plugin so that Skyrim could use it,” the creator said. Havok is the physics engine used in Skyrim.
According to GB, "After that, he implemented the dance routine into an existing mod that he found on casualmods.net." Other than a few adjustments to length and camera angles, he was able to produce what you saw above.
But the mod cannot be shared because he doesn’t own the dancing animation. Guess we’ll just have to settle for the video for now.
