Oh, iOS 6. It's not enough that I can't use you to figure out where to go, because you seem to think that the apocalypse has started and everything on earth is melting. You're also a terrible update when it comes to gaming apps, too!
According to reporting by the folks at Pocket Gamer, the App Store has been redone in a way that may be detrimental to developers and consumers alike. Before, you were able to go into the App Store and look at new game releases with ease. Even as a new iOS user, personally, I could see the value in seeing new releases–it allowed me to have a gander at titles I might not otherwise know or care about.
New releases haven't disappeared, but it's harder to find. When it comes to storefronts, visibility is key. This is especially true for apps without the name/franchise power that other games do. These new, unproven titles from unknown developers need all the help with visibility they can get. Pocket Gamer details other iOS6 failings, like navigation. You'd do well to read it here.
It's worth noting that storefront visibility seems to be an issue with any store I can think of–be it PSN, XBL or even Steam. There is much that can be done to improve digital storefronts, from navigation to ad balancing to which titles are highlighted and where.
As a side note: if I can't use my (completely hypothetical) iPhone to go places or buy games, what the hell use to me is it anyway!? Here's hoping that Apple steps it up and rectifies some of their blunders, for the consumer's sake. If you can't tell me what's new and noteworthy, at least don't get in the way of me going to GameStop to figure this out, either.
