The creative mind behind arty braingasms Rez and Child of Eden, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, is taking a holiday from game development, reports Eurogamer. Speaking with Q Entertainment director Nobuhiko Shimizu at the Tokyo Game Show yesterday, Eurogamer revealed that Mizuguchi is for the moment "taking on a more delegatory role" within the company. "He's now more of a spokesperson," Shimizu explained. "He's not developing stuff right now."
Q Entertainment later clarified its remarks with Eurogamer by reiterating Mizuguchi's past directorial commitment to the 2011 Child of Eden, "but now he does not do very much." Certainly words of confidence there. The company also noted that Mizuguchi took a similar break in 2007 to focus on his band Genki Rockets, whose work featured prominently in Child of Eden.
As for what Q Entertainment is up to while Mizuguchi's out of the house, Shimizu told Eurogamer: "We are now thinking about combining music games with card-battle games. We have several productions to develop that kind of game." Oh, okay. Good thing we've never seen that before.
