While DICE is mostly known for the Battlefield franchise, the studio does make other games. One of the games I'm referring to is fan-favorite Mirror's Edge.
Mirror's Edge was a big departure for DICE. Yes, it was still played in a first-person point-of-view, but it did not focus on gunfights, vehicles or things the Battlefield franchise is known for. Instead, the protagonist (Faith), mostly did his damage using melee moves and used his parkour skills to move around the environments like a cat.
Sadly, though, the game did not meet EA's sales expectations. In saying that, the franchise is not dead. Both EA and DICE has been quick to point out that Mirror's Edge is too good a franchise "to kill." While we still don't have any official word on a sequel, this might be the next best thing.
Mirror's Edge will see a PSN release starting next week! Unfortunately, its price is currently unknown at this time and we don't know if itwill come to other territories aside from the US.
So, mark your calendars, gents. Mirror's Edge will run again the next time the PSN is updated (September 25).
Have you played Mirror's Edge? Does it deserve a sequel? Come to think of it, could this be DICE and EA's way of gauging fan interest in Mirror's Edge 2? If so, I'm calling it now; Mirror's Edge 2 will be on Frostbite 2, will feature parkour elements and online multiplayer for next-gen!
Well, one can hope, no?
