The animated Mass Effect film Paragon Lost will be screened at the New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 13 at 8:00 p.m. In case you aren't familiar with the film, Paragon Lost is a prequel to Mass Effect 3. The movie focuses on Mass Effect 3 companion James Vega and his own mission against the Collectors.
The movie will take place on a colony in a remote star system and will focus on Vega's mission to protect the civilians there from the alien race known as the Collectors. The events of the movie are briefly discussed with Vega in Mass Effect 3 in a memorable early scene with the character. The movie itself is animated in anime style (but one with more of a focus on realism), a decision that is reminiscent of BioWare’s Dragon Age movie, Dawn of the Seeker. Mass Effect: Paragon Lost will be released by Funimation on DVD and Blu-ray on December 28.
BioWare has talked about making one other Mass Effect film, a live action adaptation of the original Mass Effect game featuring a male Commander Shepard. This movie, simply known as Mass Effect, was announced by BioWare on May 24th, 2010. The details of its production status are currently unknown.
