For the first time in history, a Bethesda game will be released on a Nintendo platform.
In an interview with GameSpot, game director Todd Howard spoke highly of the hybrid console stating that it is “really smart” when speaking about the hybrid nature of the platform.
“I think it’s the kind of device that only Nintendo could make. It’s exciting to bring Skyrim to the Nintendo audience.”
Howard was pleased to say that Nintendo had been a “good partner” in their collaborations, which was a contrast to the past as he states: “Before they were less interested in the types of things that we did or some other groups did.”
Like pretty much everyone else, Howard is unsure whether the Switch will be a success or not.
“I don’t know where it’s gonna go,” he said. “But I think it’s a really smart platform. We like it a lot.”
Skyrim is slated to launch for Switch this fall, though a specific release date has not been announced.
