For a series of games all about how very little is left up to chance, this is a bit ironic. Not only will Konami's special collection of Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary books be rare as hell, you also need to enter a drawing just to buy them– which precludes non-Japanese speakers right off the bat, although we suppose a few of these will turn up on eBay at twenty times the price within a day of release.
The seven books which make up the Anniversary Collection will run you a total of 26,250 yen (about $335 US at current conversion rates), but you'll be getting your money's worth. The volumes are each roughly the size of a dictionary and the two-book Art of Metal Gear Solid is literally bound in metal. Next time someone says you could bludgeon them to death with the script of one of these games, you can say, yes, you really can.
If you're good with Japanese (or just a very lucky guesser on where to click things) head on over to Konamistyle to enter the drawing for one of these babies. The rest of us will just sit here and sulk.
